 Erwin Soeyanto | After, over four decades, of professional involvement, in nearly, all areas of leading, effectively, I have come to believe, and realize, one of the major challenges, is, the lack of consistency, when it comes to the actions, and behaviors, of so - called, leaders. Although, one of the significant reasons, for this apparent, dearth, of quality leadership, is few organizations, pay keen attention, to the relevance, and need, for using, consistently, true, leadership training programs, there are several other needs, involved. With, that in mind, this article will attempt to, consider, examine, review, and briefly, discuss, 5 necessities, for consistent leading.


 

1. Align rhetoric, with actions: If, one, examined, the rhetoric, and promises, made by a group's leaders, several years ago, with the so - called, prioritized issues, which needed, to be addressed, today, in many instances, it would seem, like, it was an incidence, of, deja vu! We need a leader's rhetoric, and promises, to be transformed, constantly, into well - considered, strategic planning, culminating in a fully - developed, action plan! Without this, constituents, will not be properly represented, and/ or, served!

2. Clear - cut, strategic planning: Only, when, a comprehensive, properly = performed, strategic planning, is prioritized, will organization's be able, to properly, emphasize, what, is most important/ essential! Unfortunately, although, we often, hear groups, claim, they do so, few proceed, in a valuable, meaningful, professional manner! It must emphasize, the specific group's heritage and history, demographics, needs, priorities, mission, and vision, in a thorough, manner, so this plan, can be customized, to the specific group!

3. Well - considered, relevant, sustainable, action plan: It's not a meaningful, action plan, unless/ until, it is well - considered, relevant, and sustainable, and seeks, to align, the strategic plan, with, the process, forward! It must include: a table of responsibilities (who, will be assigned, to do, what); contingency planning (prepare a Plan A, B, etc, and create a way, to seamlessly, tweak the approach, if indicated); create the emphasis, based on genuine empathy, etc; and a meaningful, timeline, and way, to effectively, review, and evaluate, in - steps!

4. Objective introspection, with open - mind: One must proceed, with an open - mind, and a willingness, to be, objectively, introspective! The more thorough, the process, the better chance, of success!

5. Genuine empathy: Success is, often, derived, from, proceeding, with genuine empathy, in order to properly address, both, true, as well, as, perceived value!
